Interlude

So the hubs and I are off to the nephew's wedding.  We leave tomorrow morning and won't be back until next Tuesday.  It's likely that there won't be any posts from me while we're gone so...well...I guess that means we're all on our own until that magical of magical days...September 18th.

I'll be reading and commenting while I'm gone because I'm bringing my iPad (duh).  I just won't be posting because it's too hard to do on that dang thing.

So do what you have to do to get ready.  Eat all the crap NOW.  Clean out your pantry and refridgerator.  Do all your meal planning.  Search for new recipes.  Stock your shelves with good stuff.  Get used to shopping on the perimeter of the grocery store where all the fresh food are kept.  Weigh and measure your "before" self.  Do as much research as you are able.

I'll check back in as soon as I get back (with pictures of course).

And in honor of all of those whose lives were lost or changed forever 13 years ago today I have this prayer.

And Shanti is peace...Om shanti.  God Bless America.

Namaste

  1. I am busy reading It Starts With Food. Very interesting read. I am trying to figure out just what I will be eating so I can go to the grocery store. If I don't have a menu and know exactly what I am eating I will never make it the 30 days. Enjoy the weekend with your hubs.

    1. I'm with you. I can eat the same thing everyday as long as I have a plan. Structure. Boundaries. Discipline. Story of my life.

      Go Connie!

  2. Ok, I am starting on the 18th too! LOL I am doing okay....but not as good as pre-wedding. Damn that chocolate mousse cake!

I am also reading It Starts With Food. So let me come up with a plan....like I said, I am not straying too far, but I have had diet coke, and a sweet and low in my iced coffee, and right now I am craving salt! Cheez-its are calling my name!!

    Have fun at the wedding!

    1. You do whatever you need to do my friend! This s YOUR journey. You can build it any way you'd like. Decide on some "cheats" like I did. Sweet and low. Cream in your coffee. Diet coke. (Sorry...no Cheez-its). If you're too strict going in you may resent the deprivation and that's a recipe for failure. There are no Whole30 Police...besides you.

Remember, these are guidelines rather than hard and fast rules. If you only give up refined sugar, white pasta and bread you'll be doing wonderful things for your body and when the 30 days are over you can decide where to go from there.

Relax...it's just a little science experiment after all!

      Hugs my friend,
      Sherry

  3. Y'all!!!!! I have totally forgotten to tell you about how coconut milk (in the can) is the BEST in coffee. :) I mix one can of coconut milk with one can of water in a jar and shake it up. Voila! Delicious creamy goodness for coffee/tea that's Whole30 OK.

I found two new recipes. I'm gonna post something on my blog about our challenge too? And maybe share some recipes? Which will require me to have a new tab, which will require me to be computer savvy.....or get my husband to help. :)

And dear lord, I know what you mean about too hard to post on the ipad- I tried writing something on my phone and longed for my big ol' computer keyboard.

    Happy wedding!

    1. Careful with the coconut milk. The only kind I can find here is loaded with sugar! What brand do you use. I'd love something other than my creamer because of the chemicals.

I love that you want to post stuff on your blog!!! Share the love! Be of service! AND! SHARE THE RECIPES!

    2. Whole Foods 365 Brand Organic Light Coconut Milk. I usually use regular, not light. No sugar. 40 calories in 1/4 cup. Plus I add a can of water so even less. Sugars <1g per serving.

  4. Have a great time at the wedding.

Regarding posting, keyboard issues aside - have you tried the blogger app? I have it on my Android Phone, it is good for drafting and publishing but not so good on managing comments etc.

    1. I forgot about my blogger app! Posting on it is easier.

      Thanks for the reminder.
