Now Monday nights on the other hand? They have potential. Dancing With the Stars and Castle come on TV on Mondays. DWTS I watch with my husband - we don't do that very often since I'm either watching HGTV in our bedroom or sitting in the family room with him while he watches the Military Channel and I read. Castle I watch with my twins. We don't do that much since they've grown older and our tastes have diverged - so it's nice having something to watch together.
I used to like Monday nights because Intervention was on A&E. Oh how I loved that show. I would go and buy a bottle of wine (or two or three) and sit down and watch to see just how bad those people were. And then I would make pithy little comments like, "Well at least I don't do THAT!" Or, "Oh my, look how bad she is!" And my personal favorite, "She did what?! Tsk, tsk, tsk..."
Believe me when I say that in the cold, hungover, semi-sober light of day - the irony was not lost on me. Now I've substituted an AA meeting and Castle for my Intervention fix - more than a fair trade. I do still catch it from time to time and I alternate between feelings of sadness and anger for these people and their co-dependent families. My tolerance for my drunken self has shrunken drastically in the last two years.
Now Monday is just a normal, say goodbye to the weekend and hello to the week, feeling. Average, hum-drum, ordinary, boring...and wonderful. Happy Monday everyone.
